Coil spring rears ride better...AND....they are what NASCAR adopted a number of years back as they designed chassis for their racecars. If it is good enough for NASCAR, it's good enough for me.

Coils are nicer ride and cheaper to lower

keep them coming guys. this is the first leaf truck i have owned. before i tore it down i drove it for about a year. i really didnt notice a big difference in the ride compaired to a coil truck. but i think i have never owned one with a decent set of shocks

Re: leafs or coils which would you choose?

I have owned both leaf and coil spring trucks.

It really depends on what your plans are for the truck and what it will be used for.

I liked the leaf spring setup when I use to tow a heavy load, but liked the coils better for the better ride when not towing.

Like others said if you are wanting to lower it coils are easier.

Re: leafs or coils which would you choose?

My other truck is a '96 GMC short step and it has leaf springs. I wish I had the money and talent to convert it to the same rear setup as my '69. It is also lowered and it has NEVER ridden as well as the C-10. When the C-10 was new, as it was when I got it 10 years ago, it had a set of 2000-lb springs on the rear. It still rode better than the GMC does, but it was a harsh ride compared to now with the new coils on it.

Re: leafs or coils which would you choose?

I agree coils seem to ride better than leafs. The only exception would be in what you are using the truck for. If you were using the truck for lots of heavy loads or a loaded trailer then I could see it's advantage.
