Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I powder coated my Rally Rims on my 1967 but I don't have any closeups of them and the truck is in storage for winter. I also powder coated the bumper. You can take a look at the pics if you want

Lots of guy paint or powder coat wheels, the best way to go is powder coat them. it will last longer and look better longer.

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I had my 15x10 rallys powdercoated, very pleased with the results. I don't have any before and after shots, I bought them new from Wheel Vintiques and they showed up in primer - I dropped them off at the powercoater like that.

I have another set of 15x8 rallys I just had sandblasted. To keep costs down, I'm going to paint these myself. I've used VHT GM Rally Silver (argent) many times with good results and will use it on these wheels.

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I used the duplicolor rim paint and clearcoat. Seems to hold up real good.

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I powder coat my rims. These 19" ones for my C30 cost me $50 to blast and powder coat.
I am going to have to get them re-done. They are a two piece riveted rim and there is rust bleeding through the seem. I think it looks horrible and I need to maybe run a bead around there to seal them up.

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I powder coated my wheels black, I don't have a before pic. The wheel and tire are a little dirty in the pic.

Re: Anyone paint or powder coat their rims?

I powder coated my 15x8 rallys. I had them blasted and I coated them myself using Eastwood's Chevy Rally Wheel Silver, and they turned out nice except they are a little darker than expected.
