Re: oil from my header
well it sounds like a good time to learn and if you got a unheated garage to work on it your better off then some of us that have to stand out in the freezing rain just to keep our trucks running
Im going out to lay on the frozzen ground to put a starter in and I'm happy

Re: oil from my header
I am assuming you have no air compressor so your best bet is to buy a screw type valve spring compressor. It will clamp over the top of the spring & retainer and compress the spring to the point you can remove the locks & retainer so the spring can come off. Something like this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/OTC-4573/?image=large You will need to put something into the cylinder to keep the valves from falling into the hole. Compressed air works but assuming you don't have an air compressor you can use nylon ski rope or even an old extension cord shoved in through the spark plug hole. Turn the crank bolt over until the piston stops against the rope then you can pull the valve springs on that cylinder without dropping a valve. Tap the top of the retainer with a rubber mallet before you try to remove the spring. This will break the retainer free of the locks. They get stuck together pretty good sometimes.
