I was hoping someone can help me figure out if my fuel guage doesn't work or if I have a wiring problem. I thought it was my sender, and I replaced it, but fuel guage still not working. When sender not in tank it goes to full, when in tank it's stuck on 1/4 tank. Could this be a ground problem or the actual guage?

With the wire off the sending unit , the gauge should go past Full,if this happens it's the sending unit or the float or the unit is getting stuck in the tank. Take the unit out attach the wire ,ground the unit and move the float up and down if the gauge goes from E to Full ,then it is the float or getting stuck in the tank. make sure the float has no gas in it from a pin hole ,then replace the unit make sure it has room to travel in the tank . If the gauge doesn't go to past full with the wire off the sending unit ,check for a ground in the wire as it runs to the Gauge panel.
