windshield wiper 77 vs 88

I'm putting a 77 front clip on an 88. I want to use the wiper system off the 88. The question I have is this, the 88 wipers transmissions (where the wiper arms attach)are taller than the ones for 77. If I use the ones off the 77 the holes don't line up and will need to be filled. Bottom line-will the hood on the 77 clip hit the 88 wiper transmissions? Many thanks, Tom

the 88 was an entirely different body style unless you are talking crew cab. the square bodies ended in 87 as a reg cab to put on the 77 hood you need to remove the wiper cowl and put in the 77 wiper arms they do fit ( as long as its a square to square ) i did this

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. This is on a suburban. The 88 front clip is different, the body is the same, but the holes for the wipers have 3 bolts instead of two and the large hole is really large. Thanks, Tom

Yes. The 73-80 trucks had a longer hood that covered the base of the wipers. This meant that the "stands" were much shorter. In 81 they changed to a shorter hood with a separate cowl. The stands were much longer.

I have never done the conversion, so I can't say with certainty. I have always been told that it wills swap over if you take everything off of the 77.
