Anyone have 4 Link DIY plans?

I don't have the funds to buy a 4 Link set up and was thinking of trying to fabricate one on my own.

Would anyone have any template or 'what is needed' list of sorts?

Is there such a thing??

I am building a 49 AD with a Ford 8.8 rearend if that info is needed. Would also be using coil overs.

Re: Anyone have 4 Link DIY plans?

Im doing the exact same thing with my 59. Im going with a parallel design, you need to decide what type you want to build, triangular or parallel. I drew out some plans of what its gonna look like to I could take my measurements.

Theres many ways you can go about with this, and many different variables.

You can also check out Paul Hortons Welder Series.com he sells do it yourself complete 4 links and on the TRUCKS tv show on Spike they installed one in an AD truck. You can watch the episode on the Spike TV powerplock website.

I hear you loud and clear! The TCI kits are expensive and look flimsy and still require some fabrication.

I've been planning my next project (AD truck) for awhile and want to do a 4 link also. I've poured over all the boards looking for information and I keep coming back to building one from a universal kit.

I really like the superlift wishbone kits. Are you planning on a step notch or just a c-notch or?

Re: Anyone have 4 Link DIY plans?

the one thing you don't want to skimp on is a 4 link. If your interested in making one yourself with just poly bushings, you can get 1.5 DOM tubing (Which is expensive but best thing to use for a link setup) and 1.5 Poly Leaf Spring Bushings at your local auto store.

But I believe someone did a price and compare type thing and its cheaper to buy a Universal 4-link kit from Suicide Doors than it is to put everything seperately.

Re: Anyone have 4 Link DIY plans?

Thanks for the input everyone. I wasn't planning on doing a notch? Am I missing something here?

I think after checking out all your suggestions it may be best to buy a kit and fab it to my setup. In terms of cost that is.

I am expecting to have about 500hp when my motor is complete. Around there, I think.

I do want to get as low a stance as possible again without bags or a notch.

So on that note, triangulated or parallel?

Re: Anyone have 4 Link DIY plans?

Its cheaper to buy pre-built link bars the come with bushings and an adjuster from suicide then it is to buy the tubing and building then yourself. I bought 1.5" DOM quarter wall tube for the bars, and 2" od quarter wall for the bushing ends and threaded bungs from a guy on ebay who is located in vegas, i looked around and the price seemed to be the best I could find. If you want you can pm me for the contact info.

You might consider a parallel if you want more of a drag race setup to tune for a good launch with that 500 hp you'll be pushing.

Happy New year
