I have not heard of using vinyl dye but I have read about people use the spray on plasti-dip. I know it sounds crazy. Google it. You should find plenty of info and pics.

Here is one example. Not a Grant but you could follow the same process.

i have used the spray on stuff in 2 of my trucks, and on other things in the past.
I would NOT recomend it on a steering wheel.

X2 on that I bought a used wheel that someone done that to and the time I was done at the swap meet it had already wore off on my hands. I was mad as hell as I tried to find the person I bought it from.

Re: vinyl die on grant steering wheel?

I`ve sray dyed alot, too, with great success. But,I wouldn`t do a steering wheel. You constantly hold it and the oils from your hands eat into it.I believe you would soften the die and cause it to lift.Maybe try a RIT dye.Think of wood...RIT is like stain that gets into the pores to dye.The spray die is actually a paint formulated to bond and flex with the fabric.Paint on wood makes a shell and seals the pores. It doesn`t get "in" the material. It lays "on" it.
How about shoe dye?Whatever you do could wear off.As long as all it takes is re-dying that`s ine.You just don`t want lifting or peeling where an edge is let. And,you`ll wonder how stable the rest is.
