Remote keyless entry install - are the locks positive or negative?

I haven't installed an alarm, remote start or remote keyless entry since the 90's, and don't remember how to determine positive locking from negative locking.

Anyone know how to check, or know what the 85's locks would be?

NOTE *1 the ECM is located behind the Glove Box, it is a SILVER BOX with 2 Plugs.



NOTE *2 when hooking up a REMOTE STARTER on a DIESEL, if the WAIT to START wire from the Remote Starter does not wait until the Light on the dash turn out before cranking, you will need to program in the 5,10 or 15 Second WAIT to START TIMMER in the Installation Manual. On some vehicles the Wait to Start Light on the dash is not a true (+)Positive or (-)Negative and the wire from the Remote Starter will not owrk. When this Wait to Start Timmer is programmed, disconnect and tape up the Wait to Start wire from the Remote Starter that is tied into the Wait to Start Light on the dash.

Beauty, thanks!!!! Any idea what "TYPE A" refers to? It rings a bell, but can't quite remember.

I use to have access to that type of info, but back then we had to call an automated machine, and it would automatically fax the info to you after inputting all the info (year, make, model, etc).

Figured it out. They are positive locks.

At the master switch (drivers door), if the lock and unlock wires are ground at rest, and 12v when activated, they are positive.

Got is installed and I'm loving it. No more scratched door paint!
