Bedwood Options
Bought the oak wood kit now I can't decide what strips to use. Iam planning to use my truck to haul things and the occasional drive to the dump. It's not a show truck but still pretty clean. I'm thinkin stainless strips with a light color wood stain or steel strips maybe painted with a dark wood stain any suggestions would sure help here's a pic of my truck to maybe help decide which direction I should go thanks, Tony

Re: Bedwood Options
Man what a b-e-a-utiful truck you have there.
I'd suggest stainless strips, as they say "Stainless is Forever". You will never have to worry about paint chipping. And for those hauling trips, might I also suggest a rubber bed mat to toss in and a big old bed comforter for padding before you load up? I'll be doing the cheapo (2) piece marine plywood route on my truck with one stainless strip down the middle. That original wood is just too "purty" for my beater. Re: Bedwood Options
Nice truck Bowtie, I`d do the stainless, with light wood stain, thats just my opinion though, you could find a used or new import bed liner to thow in the back when hauling.....mine is a driver as well, its hard to keep them nice..

Re: Bedwood Options
I use my truck as a truck, meaning I frequently throw stuff in the bed and don't want to worry about the finish. I did mine two years ago with oak, painted semi-flat black, and non-polished stainless strips.

Re: Bedwood Options
Here is mine... Non-polished stainless, and tintable stain on the oak... I like the grain through the color... and stain is great because if I get a scratch in the wood just a bit of stain will cover it back... this stain is waterproof as well...

Re: Bedwood Options
I followed Mar-K guidance with painting their Pine with the semi gloss black coating to give it a stock look.

Re: Bedwood Options
hey rainman i made a bed for my hhr that i have retroed to the 50s. when it came to the strips, i ended up using galvanized strips from a hardware store. all i did was cut to length, and drilled holes as needed. cost for 6 strips was anlow $13 for all of them! i did also polish them up with fritz. it workede wonders for my project.
