drop spindle problems

Hey guys, need a little help. I ordered and installed 2-1/2" spindles from CPP,[URL="http://www.classicperform.com/Store/1960_1972_Chevy_Truck/CP4S1.htm"] These are on a '68 with stock a-arms with new ball joints. These spindles are supposed to use the stock balljoints, but the top joint on pass. side will not tighten up (run out of thread) I noticed CPP's web site shows the same spindle except for 70-72 models and I'm wandering if they sent me the wrong spindles even though the 67-70 spindle stock number is on reciet. I have also had issues with tie rod ends not matching up. Anyone been here before ? Thanks.

Re: drop spindle problems

sounds to me like you have 71-72 spindles. The 68-70 use ball joints that are shorter. Might suggest you go to the auto parts store with a spindle and ask them to pull a 71-72 BJ and see if it fits the spindle.

Like said, go to the parts store & see if you can find a BJ that fits it

On mine I took the spindle to try & match a BJ to it, but the only ones close were the ones they were sposed to be (73-87)
I fought with CPP for quite a while trying to get them to see that the spindles they ship out are crap, but they didnt care

I wound up using a couple washers under my castle nut so I could get it tightened down & still get a cotter pin through the BJs

Hey Spray-Bomb, you mention that the CPP spindles are crap. I'm in the market for the 4 wheel disk kit w/ 2.5" drop spindles from them. Is there another company that you would recommend for this other than CPP? Thanks.

That would suck if that's true.
Everyone else makes "year specific" drop spindles now.
I'm sure CPP does also.

I'd say they just sent you the wrong spindles.
