interchangeability
I am going to go to a pick-a-part close to my house, I've driven by before and seen lots of 67-72 medium trucks there, my question is what will interchange between between them and light trucks? I need some clearance light lenses for my GMC, and I've seen the posts of ppl grabbing a tach/vacuum gauge dash outta a medium truck. What else? Any info appreciated.

I think pretty much anything cab-related will interchange...

That's one of the cool things about these trucks. You can turn a 69 in to a 72 if you want. good luck, Scott

Actually, not much cab items will fit. The ones I have seen have the 'dog house' (recessed area on firewall for the engine) shoved way back further, the doors have a section in the front lower portion cut for tire clearance.
There are plenty of theings that actually do swap over...but you'll have to look at each part and compair with another pick up if posable. |

For anyone looking for a 67/68 style 3 spoke steering wheel, they used these in the bigger rigs even after they went to the 2 spoke style in 69 in the lighter duty trucks.

CPNE is 100% right on that...we have a 1976 Chevy C/60 that frequents our shop (a fire truck at that) and it has the 67/68 steering wheel.

What about medium truck tilt? If they had those, could they swap with a light truck?

Let us know what you find, even the things you don't want. Someone on the board might need parts.

Dash pad, door panels, door glass, windshield, radio , knobs, switches, heater controls, roof lights, glove box and cardboard inside, seatbelts all the same... and maybe AC components but never seen ac in a farm truck up here where it snows.... Never seen or heard of a tilt in a big truck.

The columns are not the same as ours.
I don't think they had tilt available anyways. I do always look for the harness adapter on the turn signal plug...it's worth holding onto if you were to find a van tilt. Seems most of these C/40 and up had them...at least all the ones I've seen anyways. |

I might be going tomorrow, and if so I will keep my eye peeled for any 67-72 trucks at all. If I find a goldmine (doubtful), I'll be sure to tell you guys whats there.
