Which cab is better?
Ok, on my rust bucket Fred Sanford special is a cab with totally gone rockers, cab corners and cab mounts. The floor has spots that are rusted through, and over teh windsheild is shot. Lastly, there are rust through holes on the firewall, to the extent that the one time I got caught out in a driving rain, my feet were gettng wet from under the dash.
On the other hand, in the garage, I have on a pallet another cab. The firewall is solid as a rock, as is the metal over the windsheild. The floorboard is totally shot, much worse than the cab that is on the truck now, the one listed above. Rockers, and cab corners, and cab supports are totally shot, just as the cab above. So, the cab that's on the truck's only plus is that the floor is not totally rusted out, so it might not need full floorboard replacements, where as the one on a pallet in the garage will need complete floorboard replacement, The question now is, is the completely rotted area over the windsheild on my existing cab worse than the completely shot floorboard of the cab I have in my garage?

Re: Which cab is better?
I would go with cab #2, the one on the pallet.

Re: Which cab is better?
Cab 2 sounds much better. Sounds like it would be a good candidate for one of the new complete floors, then you just need to install rockers and cab corners.

Re: Which cab is better?
Cab rust ismuch worse than floor rust. Thay make all the parts to fix floor rust, cab rust can't be fixed without another top or another cab. I would look for another cab if you can't do all the work yourself, because if you paysomeone else you will have more in it that it will ever be worth.

Re: Which cab is better?
check out my money pit build thread, do the $400 full floor replacment or find another cab... The floor is pretty easy, roof rust is much more difficult. (i've swapped roofs on another build)

Re: Which cab is better?
I'd say if you are going to use one of them...use the one with the good windshield/roof areas and replace the entire floor. However, if you're not doing the work yourself look for a complete rust free cab from out west. I have a local contact for welding the patch panels if you can't do them yourself...check out my build thread in my signature below for the progress on my cab....
