Re: My New Truck
Factorystock what do you suggest? The engine is not original and I want power steering and power disc brakes! The rear wheels and tires are not original either. What would you do?

Re: My New Truck
You can use square-body 73+ 3/4 ton front end stuff to get your discs & ps and keep the load capacity.
Toss in a BBC and then you've got a good tow rig to bring home more old iron!

Re: My New Truck
I appreciate vehicles for what they are, in your case a custom camper model, your trucks purpose in life was to be a recreation vehicle. This is mainly the reason why it survived the last 40 years. I know there are whose who say" its yours do what you want". We seem to value immediate (car type performance) gratification from older trucks more than preserving history for future generations. How many 69 Chevy 3/4 tons look like on my avaitar photo? How many look like the 67-72 chevy truck.com logo above? I don't want to make too many enemies, and I am probably on the wrong site and need to find a more purist site. Will all the real 3/4 tons from this era dissappear someday? I have no problems adding period factory options such as power brakes, power steering, stabilizer bars etc.If you need disc brakes that bad, you probably are driving too fast for a pickup. Remember it was designed to stop with a heavy camper on board for a total GVW of 7500 lbs. I would purchase a 1968 Chevrolet truck sales brochure for information on how to preserve your trucks history. I would keep your 68 truck, looking like a 68 truck. I have never seen a restored 68 3/4 ton at any car show ever that looks like a 68 3/4 ton in a sales brochure.

Re: My New Truck
Well Factorystock does have a point there maybe I should keep it a 3/4 ton. I do plan on driving it alot next summer. I do also like the look of a PRO BARN black semi-gloss rat rod old truck maybe I will take the front clip off my well worn 68 and put it on my 71 long wheelbase and give it a quick paint job. Clay68C10 has a good idea too maybe I could just put 8 lug disc brake parts on the front. I have a power steering set up in the garage, It already has a trailer brake set up on it and the rear springs sure are strong enough to pull a car trailer. Thanks guys I guess I need to look for some parts and get back to work!
