They're definitely a true snow tire.

Really, just make sure they are radial tires (as those appear to be), and they have agressive semi- straight cut tread lines to help not only throw snow but resist hydro-planing (the straighter the cuts between the raised tread, the less hydroplaning for the most part)

Looks like good siping also.

All in all, any tire with the special snow/ice rating (seems like any tire gets the M+S rating now, it's terrible some of the poor tires with an M+S rating) should be good to go in the winter.

I always run some sort of all season or all terrain tire (besides BF-Goodrich, they don't make the cut for me).

Right now I am running Pathfinder A/T With the LT-E Rating (tread is deeper, cut bigger than the lower LT and P ratings and they are a good tire for what I paid for them. Year round use for me though.

I always like to run D or E tires on trucks. I had Lt-Cs on my Z-71 and don't like the handling.
