yes another torsion bar/air bag question

ok i'm having a bit of a problem/dilema with my 60 gmc.....i think this truck has been lowered before(rear frame was been clearanced for the frame to drop with air bags)now for the front,i'm curious if i can just remove the upper and lower A arms and replace with ones from a 82 chev pu.....the current cross member that is in there now has a plate across where a coil spring would go up into the cross member(on the upper part)and my buddy built a plate on his front cross member just like what i currently have and installed airbags with drop spindles.i'm thinking i might have a newer cross member in there,so maybe if both upper and lower A arms bolt up i'll be ok?
hope i didn't make that to confusingi can try to get a pic if it'll help at all

Re: yes another torsion bar/air bag question

If you still have the torsion bars then you'll need to swap the whole front suspension crossmember and all. If you don't have the torsion bars then you may be able to just swap control arms.....pics may help ID what you have.

Re: yes another torsion bar/air bag question

The lower A arm on torsion bar suspension is held on with 4 1/2 bolts thru a forging ,and the A arm is made of 2 deep c channels with a bolt on lower ball joint. Spring lower A arms are held on by 2 U bolts and the lower arm is stamped steel and very similar to the 70s and 80 s arms except for the pivot points these have a pressed in ball joint.
