I installed a set of slam bags in the front my 71 truck w/ schrader valves BUT after about 3 days the bags are empty !!!! I bought the complete kit from Chris Alston Chasis Works. I feel confident that the bags are good BUT what did I do wrong ?

What should I use on the threads of the brass connectors I used ? It currently has teflon tape. Want to know what to have at my disposable when I tear it down again.

I always use teflon tape and loc tite makes a thread sealant That works really good! A combo of the 2 work really good

Why not get some soapy water in a spray bottle and see which fittings are leaking

Before you tear into it,make sure you test it all with soapy water in a spray bottle to find the leaks first.Last time I went searching for a leak,it took awhile to find it as it was tiny!That one took between 4-5 days to leak down.

are you using any push to connect fittings and tubing with the schraders or do your schraders screw into brass fittings?

My rear is bagged with schraders that have short lengths of push to connect tubing so i can fill them without getting completely under the truck. mine leak down too. I never found a leak with soap and water and it also never leaked down while it was just sitting. they only leaked while i drove it. I think my leaks are at the PTC fittings, the vibration of the tubing in the fitting is causing my leaks.

I've used PTC fittings from Ride Tech w/o issue. I have always wondered if the other 'sources' for fittings sell a similar quality of fitting? I assume that all fittings are not created equal.... but wonder how big the gap is in quality of different brands?

are you using t fittings? i had the same problem on my truck, the back would leak down and i feared it was the bags. but i switched t's and now the front leaks down and the back is fine, so my problem is somewhere in the t's. since they arent staying on the truck when i finish up the air ride, its not that big of a deal.

ps...that loctite 545 is expensive but that stuff hardens like a rock. get at least a 10ML bottle

If you are using PTC fitting make sure that your cuts are night and straight. if theres any angle in them they will leak.

That's probably why yours is leaking DZNUCKS

Go to your local toy store and buy some blow bubble mix. Put it in a spray bottle and spray away. Check all your fittings. If you have push-connect fitting spray them. I have found that sometimes they are faulty.
