I have ried to install my rear view mirror three times now and NOTHING seems ot work. The last time I used some adhesive from the auto parts store designed for rear view mirrors and it was holding well i thought until I washed my window and touched it and it fell right off...

i need something good and strong!!! suggestions??

Super glue?

It's been a long time since I put one on and have no idea what I used to use. Im sure someone will chime in.

I've always used the rear view mirror adhesive with no problem. Just gotta make sure everything is clean.

brake cleaner, dry, everything has been perfectly clean! I was thinking about going by a window installation place and trying there.

Maybe the brake cleaner is reacting with the glue. I just use glass cleaner and the auto parts place mirror glue.

I used an alcohol wipe to clean. Make sure you are cleaning both the glass and the metal or plastic insert that you are gluing to the windshield.

both cleaned very well and dried, im not sure what the problem is grrr

I had the same thing happen, and what I did was scuff up the mirror and the windshield where I was installing it. It is still holding, knock on wood.

Did your glue package have primer with it? I only use Loctite brand with primer.

was the glue loctite? if so, they changed something in their formula and now it sucks!

did you let it dry long enough before hanging the mirror? I just scrape, primer, glue and hold in place for a minute. seems to me that it would be warm enough in Vegas. LOL

We use loctite brand in our shop with great results just let it dry 24 hours before installing the mirror.

Did mine a few months back with the loctite glue. Cleaned with alcohol first. Used the special hardner. Worked perfectly.

if you use too much of the glue it will not hold. One drop is all it takes.

When you clean the windshield, get a razor blade and use it like an ice scraper to shave any finish off the glass. The use of the alcohol is the right cleaner, but the blade takes off any clear finish that may not let the glue adhere to the glass.
