Re: one wire alternator
i checked on one of these at the local napa for my c10. from what im told you just run your positive to the battery and thats it. the alt gets what power it needs from the bat and detects when it gets low and recharges it. the battery will still be grounded to something on the truck which will also be connected to the alt.

Re: one wire alternator
I have one for running engines on my engine test stand and all you need to do is run the battery wire to the output terminal and it works.

Re: one wire alternator
I have been using one of these one wire alternator no problem, but am also using a voltmeter gauge in my dash so i can see that battery is charging as you will no longer be able to have the warning light on the dash working

Re: one wire alternator
On a chevy truck the power for all your accessories doesn't go through the alternator. There is a terminal on the fender that feeds the wiring harness.
I have no idea on a camaro. |

Re: one wire alternator
On Chevy trucks the alt buss connection is a soldered splice on the left fender well the buss distributes power from the alt to the batt and cab. On cars (Camaro included) GM used the horn relay as the buss to feed batt and cab. IMO one wire alts belong on lawn mowers and forklifts or anywhere else that you just want to charge the batteries.
