GMC hood question

I stripped about 1/2 of an inch of bondo off my hood, it appears that the p/o had decided to put some really heavy coats of it all over the hood. I did find some really bad body work that was covered up by the bondo on the front of the hood pass side. I also removed a very thick layer right in the front center. Right were the "M" mounts for the GMC emblem, is this area naturally supposed to be indented? It looks like it is recesed a little for the emblem but I dont have emblem to verify. I dont know if this it another dent (its a little rough) or its supposed to be indented for the emblem....
Thanks in advance!

Re: GMC hood question

What year? Mine is a 68 and only has the holes for mouting the GMC letters.

Not sure if all GMC's had the letters on the hood but I don't believe any of the hoods for our trucks had indentations. At least I've never seen any.

Re: GMC hood question

I will check one we have in the shop. I don't remember them ever having an indentation on any letter

Re: GMC hood question

I just went out and looked at mine, definitely no indentation where the letters are
