Simple question
I have a component set of 6.5"s and 1" tweeters up front in my truck. Does the component set require 2 channels [one channel to drive each pair] from an amp or 4 [one for each speaker]?

1 channel/pair passive. 2 channel/pair active.
Passive = using the little x-over box that came with the speakers Active = throwing that little box in the trash and using a signal processor to tell the speakers what to do. I'm going with you're on passive, so it's one channel per mid/tweeter, so a 2ch amp is what you're looking for.

AceX your correct,Im using the crossover box that came with the speakers. So if the setup is rated 200max/100 rms then I need one channel at 100 per side right? sounds simple enough. Thanks for the info guys.

you want a 2 channel for a set of compnets if you have rear speakers also 4 total and your tweeters you want to use a 4channel but you can also run the componets on a 4 channel and use the other 2 channels for a sub if you wanted some bass
you want a 2 channel that is not strickly a bass amp which most arnt just for bass there will be a cross over switch on the amp that has settings for hp (high pass) LP ( low pass) and FULL you want the amp set to full low pass=bass only high pass=treble only full=treble mid and bass |
