New here from Nor Cal

Picking up my new truck today, so I thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself and share a few pics of it. It's an 86' Chevy that I bought from my uncles neighbor. I've been after this guy for years trying to get him to sell it to me because it looks like the 87' I drove in high school. He's finally decided to let it go and I couldn't complain about the price. The only issue the truck has is that when he had the motor built my a local shop a few years ago, they didnt machine the clearances right so it has a slight piston slap noise until the engine warms up. I work for a shop building race engines so I'll probably build something for it down the road anyways. It still runs and drives the way it is though. Some of the things it has are: 700r hughes built overdrive, 3.73 gears with an aluminum rear cover, brand new tires with less than 50 miles on them, 16" centerline wheels which I'm gonna be changing because they're not my style, beltech drop using spindles, a/c, pw, pl, cc, tilit, cd with custom speakers, some aluminum panels on the int., air helper bags in the back with an onboard compressor so air can be adjusted from inside the cab, roll ban, gayloards painted to match hard tonneau cover, plastic bed liner, etc. The list goes on and on. He had the truck stripped down and re-painted 7-8 years and it still looks great. One of the straightest 73-87 trucks I've seen in person in a long time. Let me know what you think of it and what you think the truck would be worth.

Re: New here from Nor Cal

a few pics of one of my other projects. It's a 7.50 cert 69' chevelle I've been working on for the past 5 years. Everything is just about finished now and it goes to the painter this week to get painted cyber grey (the new color availible on corvettes and camaros). The painter will have it for 3-4 weeks and then I'm hoping to have it finished 35 days after I that...

I checked out your build, you have a nice truck. Looks like my car will be finished painted around the same time as your truck. From the moment I first saw cyber grey, I knew that it was the color I was gonna paint the chevelle.

I'll post the cam specs on monday night. As for the rest of the motor, it's a budget build I put together at work. .030 2 bolt main bbc, cast crank, 049 oval port heads, comp solid roller, etc. I was able to build it cheap, but it will be plenty enough to get the car to run D gas (10.60 index). I'm gonna save up and build a more serious motor after I get a season or two in the car.
