I am restoring my 72 to be a play toy, I was wondering if anyone has used solid cab mounts. I was wondering what you used to make them.

Over time they will rattle your truck loose. Spot welds and all.

You won't like them, you will break stuff and sh!t will fall apart/off. Not a good idea, these trucks have a lot of vibrations from the suspension, and it will all go straight to the cab and you. Will be very noisy inside too. Get some poly mounts and do that. You need some sort of dampening. Even the ply mounts have been b!tched about on this board for being harsh riding and noisy.

so instead of ploy can you get rubber mounts ....or is poly the only kinda made ??

You can get rubber mounts. They are also still made, and cheaper. Go that way, you will be happier.

you'll probably do the ones under the rad support as well. loosin all 6 of the mounts slightly so theres a little give there, then do one side at a time I used a 3' 2x4 on my floor jack to distribute the weight, put the jack under it firmly, then take out the bolts on the side your jacking, jack it alittle more to get out the mounts and put the new ones in, bolt it back up, but not real tight then do the other side, when your done make sure every thing is sitting right before you tightin all the mounts up, on mine I had to put in some thick washers on some to level the cab out cause it was alittle tweeked
