I tried that for my 1980 Indy Hauler. They said no.

Speaking of lifting from my website...
phoenix grafix got their picture of my Gentleman Jim from my page. It's in front of my parent's house where I am right now for Christmas. They didn't give credit or ask permission...

That sucks, there should be something you could do to make them pay

That is a great resto project and like everyone else I am looking forward to seeing more of this trucks story coming together.

As for the engines color, I could be wrong but I believe chevys to be orange and gmcs to have been blue back then. One of the few things that seperated them, besides a few emblems and a grille.

No. My Gentleman Jim is orange. GMC and Chevrolet went to blue in sometime in 77. My grandpa's 77 GMC had an orange 454, but I've seen blue in 77s also.

Great truck!!!! for your graphics, you should contact the guys at TKO Graphics http://www.tkographix.com they are located just outside of indianapolis, In and do a bunch of work for the majority of the Indy 500 race teams and the track itself...great people to work with!!!!

interesting truck , its going to be a lot of work to get it all nice again though
if you need to take the decals of to be repainted you might as whell have the decals spraypainted or brushed on , it will hold a lot better than vinyl

I am a huge Indy truck fan also....I have my dads 93 indy truck...Mom gave it to me after my dad passed away. He had all kinds of Indy stuff, pace cars, pace trucks etc....... Congrats on getting it back and good luck in your quest to restore it

I think having decals or stencils made before you start working on truck is a great idea.

With all the damage that thing has I would be inclined to install all different sheet metal from donor trucks and keep all the original pieces for reference.

There would be nothing worse than removing the graphics to restore the panels and not being able to reproduce them properly.

A sign shop can scan in the images and reproduce the graphics exactly in vinyl. It won't be cheap but being pretty much one of a kind it is worth it.

I would be inclined to look for a clean 73 to 80 donor truck on the east side of the mountains and rob it of all the body panels for yours.

Check the VIN stamping on the engine ID pad behind the alternator to see if the engine is original to the truck.
