New arrival

Hi, guys! First thing I did was posting my pickup post into Suburban thread I just registered with this great site and already found a huge amount of helpful and interesting info. Attached are pictures of my new truck - a '69 Chevy C10 Shortbed Stepside. I love the look. The truck is in a surprisingly good condition. Some rust, but nothing critical. It will be a quick project, hopefully.

Nice truck. Welcome to the Board. Used to have some friends down in Naples when I lived in Sarasota.

strange thing is that the truck is actually orange. I took photos at the sunset, hence the color change. The whole story started when I bought a '68 Camaro in what's called "hugger orange" or something like that. Several months later I came across this truck which is matching orange. Could not resist it
This model will look awesome in red too. But if I was doing it, I would definitely go non-metallic and hi-gloss. Speaking of the actual shade of red I would check the one Ferrari is using Absolutely the best red I have seen.

Hey Tim A.

Welcome home...this IS the best board on the net.....truck looks real nice...I'm kinda partial to orange myself.....

Now about this quote above.....those are famous last words to most of us on this site....we go and fix a rocker and end up replacing the engine, tranny, new doors, rewire, new seats, etc....so please define "quick"....
just kidding....I hope you enjoy the ride, and continue to learn about these trucks!!!

Keep on haulin' a$$!!!

Re: New arrival

Welcome to the board! I am relatively new to the board myself. I have had my 70 for 25 years and thought I knew all about it. Boy was I wrong! I learned more in a month on this board than I thought I knew. BTW, very sharp truck. I like the small hubcaps with the trim rings!

Yep, another quote is "a project can never be completed, it can only be stopped". When I bought Camaro, I gave it a couple of months to be ready. It is still being completed Well, the truck is solid, however, from the first unprofessional glance I would need to replace the step boards, one door, weld on a lower part on the other door, reweld lower corner sections of the cab, check and maybe patch the rockers, replace the driprail sections, replace the rear window panel (I want the sliding one), replace the rear lights (i have some seriously ugly high-teck on right now), find a radio, patch a small hole in the hood (no idea why the PO had it drilled), maybe change the radiator to a bigger one with higher efficiency, possibly install AC, definitely change the wood in the bed, reupholster the seat, have the whole thing repainted same color with high-gloss finish. Oh, I would need a twin Flowmaster exhaust setup for sure and wheel alignment obviously (that might cause a replacement of two tires that are not inexpensive as it turned out). Ideally, I would love to have it disassembled and sand-blast and repaint the frame, but that looks excessive at the moment.
I hate bondo and believe in metal, hence it will take a while. I hope to have it done by spring, maybe earlier if a bonus miraculously materializes at work And, that is, if the Camaro restoration is STOPPED

Having just written the above, I scrolled down the board and came across the boardmember's thread about a "better twin of his truck" with all the awesome pictures. Damn it!!!!! Now I really want the truck disassembled and the frame powder-coated.

Maybe you should say by "spring". Just don't say in what year. Very good looking truck. I'm partial to that color too. Wheels look really cool.
