68 rear diff help???
Is the 68 rear diff narrower then the 71??

yes it is - I can not remember the exact difference - I want to say 1"

I'm not sure about the '71 but the '72 rear is 3/4" wider on each side than the '68. LockDoc

71 is as well and some of the later model 70's are too.

Does anyone know the lenght outside to outside of a 1968 rearend? The search function is not working for me and I tried google but got too many different answers.

thanks for the help guys! Is it worth keeping the 6 bolt and converting the front or going with the back and converting to 5? Just wondering for rim selection it seems there's a lot more selection for 6 bolt.
