Can I spray epoxy primer over rattle-can paint
I have a new set of springs which are probably rattle can painted from the spring company. I have had them for about six months and needless to say, the paint wasn't great when I got them and is worse now due to me moving them around, installing, etc. Can I scuff them and shoot PPG Epoxy and a PPG top coat without worry?

sure but don't expect it to hang around too long, it will only be as good as what is under it.

what he said......Unless all the factory paint is gone (sand blasting, ect) they will look good for a while, but eventualy problems will come through

if on the truck, to do it better I would remove them to get good coverage and cleanup. get a pint of any of the DP primers if using PPG. sand them down as best you can, clean the with a solvent, and use a single stage black ( i like Chrysler black) seems blacker to me. Maybe its just my eye going to last about as long as it will w/o powder coating them Last edited by mbgmike; 01-17-2010 at 11:07 AM. Reason: sp |
