Got another one, Cheyenne Big Block!

I just picked up this truck. It is a Cheyenne 1/2t with a factory 402/turbo400 P/S P/B A/C. This truck has been outside it whole life (and need a good bath) but is supposed to have only 53K original miles?? They guy I got it from has had it for 15 years and bought it with 43k miles. It dosen't look like a low mile truck, but the seat is not torn and the brake pedal is not worn?? It hadn't been driven since 1995. I just stopped one day to see if he was wanting to sell it and he called me back a month later. It runs and drive excellent!! It does need rockers (they are already removed) and some floor repair. Bed and tailgate are very nice. This would be a very easy truck to paint. Not sure what I am going to do with it right now, but I would sell if anyone is interested. $2500.00
Joe

Joe, off topic but what size lift do you have on your HD? Also, what is your tire/wheel size? I'm wanting to do something with mine.

I just lifted this truck (it has 600 miles on it!! ) It bought different torsen bar keys that allow you to get more lift out of the front. The front it up about 2 1/2" and the rear has a 2" block. The tires are 285/75/16 ( you could get 305/70/16 on it) and the wheels are 16 x 8. Get the most back spacing you can if you buy wheels. I have a 4" backspace, but something more like a 5" backspace would be better.

I guess by cranking up the torsion bars you loose a lot of ride comfort????? Looks good. Lifts for the HD's are like $1500 and I don't want to do a body lift as there is already a huge frame hanging down. I sure like the height of yours in that pic. Sorry to get your thread off topic.

Dam Joe, good find! I have some door trim if you wanted to spruce it up a bit? It looks like its in the same condition as whats on the truck now, it might match up lol.

Anyone still moving trucks around the country... How about moving this one to Canada or at least the North Dakota Border.

1971Stepside - I have a 94 pickup with the IFS front end. I tightened the bars and it did make it ride a lot stiffer. It is nice for taking corners, the thing handles better then my lemans, almost no body roll (cept for the back) going on an on ramp. I argee that lifts for these truck are alot, but look at the alternative. Which would be converting to a solid front axle. $700 for the brackets, then you still need to get springs, a new front housing and figure out the steering. The way I figured it was that I didnt have $1500 for a lift and tighten the bars worked fine for me. I did notice one thing tho, mine is a 2500 and rides stiffer with the bars tightened then my friends 1500 with the bars also tightened.

I have turned my bars on a 2000 Z71 and have put somewhere around 50000 on it and have noticed very little change. I also haven't noticed any wear on the insides of my tires.

good luck

I did loose the nice factory ride but it only cost me $214.00 plus a front end alignment. By changing the torsen bar keys you can get almost 3" of lift. I had the wheels and tires on my 2002 Diesel so I used them again. Heres a better pic,

I'm highjacking...

OK, Joe I have to do that to my truck. Three more questions:

1. How much worse did it make the ride? Is it bone rattling now..
2. Where did you buy the keys and what the heck are they exactly?
3. What kind of wheels are those? I like the center caps being factory.

Thanks man, that looks sweet and sorry about the thread on your for sale truck.

Maybe someone can photoshop my baby with your lift and tire/wheel combo....it will help with the sales pitch to the wife!!

The truck has kind of a bouncy ride. I think if you lowered it just a little the ride would get better. You could also get a 1 1/2" block kit for the rear and not the 2". I got the keys off ebay for $65.00. I will try to get the link for you. The wheels are american eagle. The factory caps and lugs wont work on all wheels. Here is my old crew cab with just the bars turned up.

Yeah, the new one has a much better stance in my opinion. I'm suprised you didn't go back with the crew cab. I sure like that blue, but this pewter color is easy to keep clean and it ties in well with my boat.

Thanks for the info. Let me know if you find the keys link

You got any under the hood/interior pictures of the Cheyenne? Sure looks like it would make someone a nice one to restore.
