I'm liking this thread the more I look at it. I love the shift knob idea. I'm making one for my auto on the column out of a cue ball. I like the wrench for the turn signals, that's like what they do in rat rods by using a big a$$ wrench for a shifter. I'm gonna keep watching from the edge of my seat.

I thought about buying a big ass box end wrench to make the whole shifter out of but I didnt.

I saw some really cool door handles on the inside of an old VW bug on the internet a while back. Wish i still had the pics. they had bolts sticking halfway into the door panel, and a double open end wrench welded to the bolts.

Hey, you better watch out with using a cue ball their kinda heavy. You don't want to be doing 50 down the road, hit a big bump and the shifter throws its self down into first. I haven't driven an automatic in a long time, so i cant quite remember if you have to pull the shifter towards you to downshift. I just thought id throw that out there.
