Headers Install clearance
Installing headers on a 350 for 68 gmc, (they are full length) can anyone tell me if they have had trouble with location of the bellcrank(Z bar) or any of the clutch linkage. Will I have to mod or move anything. The truck originally had a 250 engine in it. Any help would be great.

Re: Headers Install clearance
Yes, if you are using the I6 frame stands, things will be different. What brand headers do you have?

Re: Headers Install clearance
I have headers from summit racing, don't know who makes them for summit. I have no fitment issues with them. They are a little tight hear and there, and require removal of the starter to install.

Re: Headers Install clearance
I have a 350 in a 68 gmc, mounted in the 6 cyl location on the I6 stands. I'm using some cheap full length flowtechs (said they fit 67-87 chevy/gmc) that I got at O'reiley's and I had no clearance issues.

Re: Headers Install clearance
forgot to mention that I have the stock granny 4-speed. I have enough clearance that last time I pulled the engine I left them bolted to the motor and pulled them out with it with no problems.

Re: Headers Install clearance
I have run these since around '01 so I have no idea what the part # is, but if they are summit brand, I'm sure they have not changed.

Re: Headers Install clearance
The frame mounts have been moved back so the motor is now close to the firewall, I guess I'll have to wait and see when the headers come. As many projects go if they were easy it wouldn't be right. Thanks for all the info guys.
