Trailing arm install
Why is my donor frame crossmember different from my leafspring frame setup? Do i need to change this crossmember over to install the upper spring mounts? I need to get rid of the leafspring mounts. Can i use the old shock mounts or can i use the ones on the original leafspring setup? I am thinking about a 5" drop in the rear.

Re: Trailing arm install
im pretty sure you need to switch out the cross member. you might be able to weld the trailing arm brackets onto your current one, but i think it'd be easier to swap it out. i have leaf springs in mine, im pretty sure you can use the same stock mounts though, sorry im not much help

Re: Trailing arm install
I just reread this and it doesnt even make sense to me. If you look at the 3rd pic and 4th pic the crossmembers locations are different. My question is do i need to change this over. The original leafspring shock mounts will then be in the way and have to be moved. When i test fitted the lower shock mounts they will be pretty close to the same area as what they were in the donor frome only more outboard. Is this making any sense to anyone what i am trying to accomplish? I have a headache

Re: Trailing arm install
im pretty sure the the frame rails are different when it comes to leaf vs. coils. the crossmember you need for the coils is not a direct bolt in, being it a leaf frame originaly it dosent have the holes there to put it. you may have to do some measuring and drilling to get it right. but like i said im not 100% sure on this.

Re: Trailing arm install
The shocks mount to the crossmember on a coil truck, not sure if you can reuse the leaf one, you'll have to double check( i had the one from my old coil spring already sandblasted so i didn't pay much attention) ...your gonna need the frame stiffeners that are on the inside of the frame and the pads for the coils to rest on...And the the bracket for the track bar that is just behind the crossmember.....don't forget to buy a shock relocator kit( you need to reposition the shocks) and a adjustable track bar
