Heater Core Removal
I was wondering. What goes into removing the heater core. I like the clean look it gives. I do know from looking at the build thread (Project Sweet Pea) from the pic I posted that there is filling involved on the firewall. But are there any drawbacks to doing this and will I have to change up and wiring/hoses? Will the blower motor need to be removed?
PS: I have no AC and this will only be a weekend/joy ride, so not having a heater all the time will be OK.

Re: Heater Core Removal
removing the heater core pretty straight forward. the assembly inside the engine bay. the heater /ac plumbing inside the ducts. the question is how do you wan to finish the dash once the controls are gone, the engine bay will need lots of attention to make it look good. patch panels and creativity to deal with the fan hole you will have a fan wire to remove as well as a little plumbing work.

Re: Heater Core Removal
The problem is once you clean up the firewall you will not have a heater any more. The blower motors on both A/C and non A/C trucks are under the hood in the part you want to shave. The heater core is under the hood on a non A/C truck. The picture you are showing above looks like a truck without a heater. Old Air Products makes a hot rod heater that can be mounted under the dash, but you will still have heater hoses from your engine running to it. WES

Re: Heater Core Removal
I was going to put a custom filler panel in where the current radio/ash tray/ac/heater controls are, and make a cutouts for my head unit and extra gauges.
jd4300fel - When you say "a little plumping work" what do you mean. Classic - Thanks for the info!!! I think I am gonna be ok without a heater though.
