Lost!!

Part of my left leaf spring fell off the truck today!! I had just got on 635 from 75 in Dallas and heard a loud clanging sound!! Looked back and saw a piece of "something" bouncing into the HOV lane. Later I was looking at the truck and noticed it's leaning a little bit........ Guess I've put off dropping the back end long enough. ECE lowering leafs will soon be mine

Re: Lost!!

I had that happen on a 72 4x4. I picked up the piece of leaf spring and continued going, I had 200 miles to home. Had new leaf springs put on the next week.

Re: Lost!!

Maybe tomorrow the truck will shed the other side and make it even. Then you won't have to do nuthin.

Re: Lost!!

Many years ago a friend had a 72 GMC that was really nice. I noticed he had all the leaves broken on one side at the axle tube and told him he had to get it fixed right away.

He didn't. The last leaf broke one night and the truck went sideways into a pole. Bye bye truck.

Re: Lost!!

The other day I was driving my truck across my favorite lake. I spied a hunk of somebody's leaf laying along the side of the ice road.

We had a ton of snow on Christmas Eve followed by a ton of rain. Then the snowmobiles made a bunch of ruts out there. Then it all froze. I'm guessing that if my springs weren't installed in the last couple of years I'd be tossing chunks of leaf too.

Re: Lost!!

When I first got my K/20 Highlander that happened to me.Driving down Main St.nice and easy, hit a manhole cover, clacketty clang clang clang, stop, walk back, wave to old ladies on porch, toss in bed,and roll out.I can`t say the same for the bumper guard that dropped off and run over flying along the interstate at 75.that just flew into the median.Looked pretty cool in the mirror..all chrome and shiny flippin`around and twirlin`like a firecracker.I`m glad nobody got hurt.

I had someone else`s go into a Swamper SSR.It was instant blowout.
