2 1/8" Primary Headers

Please help me source some 2 1/8" primary headers for my 69 with 74 bbc engine mounts. The AFR315 fully ported heads need to breath. Thanks.

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

Hooker Comp for Chevelle is 2in primaries and 3 1/2 in collector and fits our trucks sliding inside the frame rails. Should be fine unless you have crazy HP 800+..

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

I have the hooker supercomps with a 2" primary and a 3.5" collector and are equal length, they fit pretty good for an equal length and they flow good...

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

Has anyone had success or disaster with these in a 67-72 bbc 2wd, bb engine stands, with standard components up front? My preference is the first one.

Hooker Super Comp
2220HKR
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2220HKR/

2265HKR Black
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2265HKR/

2265-1HKR Ceramic Coated
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2265-1HKR/

You guys can debate the 2 vs 2 1/8 advantages, but I am past that. Both AFR and Dynomation indicate the 2 1/8 for my setup, and will be implementing N2O on top of that. Dont get me wrong, good discussion, but I'm stuck with a build in SD and a fab shop in CA right now. Thanks.

could you give me a part number for these headers or application such as what year chevelle im guessing 70 ish ?
and does the collector hang down like right bellow the bottom frame rail where you would have enough room to bolt mufflers directy to them
i have a very similar setup 72c10 big block and same heads and i came up with chevelle headers would be the cheapest way to get somthing bigger than a 1.75 " primary

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

To the O.P.,
you may try calling Tom Dawson Racing Headers. About 15 years ago, I had them make a set of 1 7/8 x 3 1/2 custom headers for my '66 with a sbc, and the headers fit like a glove. Tom used to be an engineer for Hooker and he would take a set of headers for a specific application, set them up in a jig, and duplicate those headers in whatever size pipe you want. I have nothing but good to say about them.
Their shop is located in Nuevo, Ca. and their number is 951-928-0969.
Good luck with your build!

Hooker makes Super Comps for 73-87 trucks with 2" primaries, would that work for you?

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

the problem with the headers "DESIGNED" for these trucks is that they hang down very low. The hooker #2455 work for me in a slammed 2wd auto with b&m shifter. 2" primary should be more than most need in a header, for everyone else $$$custom$$$

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

I have the hooker super comp headers for my 1970 truck with a bbc and they do not hang down.Work well with my combo but i am not sure about yours. I think that the exhaust runners are raise on that head? If so its gonna be in your best intrest to have a set built like royo said. because of the clearence problems with the headers being moved up with the exhaust ports being raised. Are you running the engine in the stock location with the 1974 engine mounts? there is several factors to take in consideration just trying to make sure you look at everything before you order something you cannot use.

Re: 2 1/8" Primary Headers

David6000,
Sorry about the late response. Check out the link in my signature, i have some photos in my build. They are #2455. I only had problems on the driver side. A little ball peen hammer fixed it in about 2 minutes. It was hitting my lower cont arm was all.
