I'd like to change out the large gas gauge with a tack. If they made a tack that large as an option for our trucks. Then move the gas gauge to the lower left where I believe a clock goes. I have nothing there now. Is this possible? Maybe at a junkyard? Should I look for a particular year? I hate that large gas gauge!!! What were they thinking! Thanks for your imput.

I think you will need a flex circuit board for that year and option. You could try some cut, splice, & use jumpers, but unless you are highly skilled in that expertise, I would recommend it. You might look at some of the ebay auctions and check with our resident expert, Crossy about it. If you got money to burn replace all the gauges with those autometers and add a painless wiring kit and that will take care of business!

The 80's never had tachs.

BUT GM still produces gas gauges that fit where the clock is! Problem is yours didn't originally come with one so you would have to cut and custom wire in the gas & tach gauge. Get a tach from an older model. You might even go custom gauges - that would be MUCH easier & cheaper than original gauges.
