Truck ran like crap!

So the Jimmy had been running really bad, and with the winter here, I had time to mess with it. It badly needed new ignition so off to Summit Racing I went!

About $152 later, ordered new cap, rotor, wires (MSD), coil (Accel), and plugs (AC Delco). Pulled off the #8 and #6 wires, and both had holes in the boot on the plug end!

It's like night and day.

I played with the timing a bit, but without a timing light, I did the best I think I could!

Next up, getting the Quadrajet cleaned up and tuned, maybe rebuilt!

Re: Truck ran like crap!

Hey cool, nice to get something done that's been needing work.

Post up your experience rebuilding your Qjet. I will need to do this at some point also. I've only rebuilt one carb before, from a Samurai. It was really simple. Somehow I'm a bit reluctant to try my Qjet though. I"ve heard that a well tuned Qjet is as good or better than say a Holley Truck Avenger carb, so I'd really like to try and save mine.

Carb rebuild experience? That's funny! Last/first carb I rebuilt was on a Weedeater brand weedeater. It was a Walbro.

There's lots of info on quadrajets on the web, I feel I could do it!
