Drop Spindle

I am doing a 2.5/4 inch drop on my 71 GMC and need info on drop spindles. Want to use existing brakes, ball joints, tie rods, so:

-Who makes spindles for this criteria?
-Which are the best bang for the buck?
-Are there any other things to keep in mind?

Any insights appreciated.

Re: Drop Spindle

pretty much any 71-72 drop spindle will be a direct swap with your stock spindle. I think I paid $225 for mine for my suburban a few years back. I found out about the company through a Local Classic car swap meet.

Re: Drop Spindle

I bought my dropped spindles from CPP. They are specific for 71-72 (meaning you keep the factory ball joints/tie rod ends). They are made by Western suspension (USA made) and went in flawlessly. Zero complaints.

Re: Drop Spindle

thanks guys. I can't believe they get between $50-60 for shipping. I know these are heavy. Just a cost of doing business I guess.

Ditto here. My 67 Panel has them, I installed a set on a 70 2WD Blazer last year, and I will be installing another set today on a 70 Short wide if they come in. I have been using these for many years W/O issues. WES

The 50.00 or 60.00 shipping charge sounds pretty standard. You need to remember that they are shipping over 50lbs clear across the country to you.
