pictures of the back of a power steering pump for 72
Anybody got pictures of the back of a power steering pum for a 1972 c10 V8 307. I got the correct brackets but everybody wants to sell me the wrong pump. I know its NOT one of the squared off looking pumps that came on the later trucks. Its the bottle type but I want to see what the return lineoutlet line looks like.
I got a pump that fits but its housing is too dented up. Its not correct but it fits. when I go to see what everybody else has to offer its completely wrong . I just want the right pump for my correct brackets. vendors tell me the pump is the same for all chevies from 66 to 75 and I just plain know thats wrong but they cant show me a picture ahead of time and tell me I must pay shipping both ways even if its wrong. Local vendors pretty much same deal. help |

Re: pictures of the back of a power steering pump for 72
I got a new pump from Kragen for my '69, pretty sure it's the same pump for a '72. Had to swap out the fitting for the pressure line from my old pump, pump looked the same as my old one. Sorry, no pics. Just cross referenced the pumps for a '69 and '72 on Kragens website. Same pump.

looking at the resevior?
its certainly not a remote reservoir? I have a 1972 chevy c10 with power steering and a 307/3spd there is no remote reservior. I'm trying to determine what pump fits my correct brackets? anybody got pictures of the back of a correct power steering pump so I can determine whats correct when ordering? |

Re: pictures of the back of a power steering pump for 72
The reservior has the intregal pump , which is what longhorn man was referencing. The units can be purchased as seperate units which is why they are telling you the pumps are the same, the reservoirs however are not. I would contact teeitup (randy) to get the correct pump/reservoir and then if you wanted you have a core for the new pump. A couple of seals and paint later you have what you are looking for. As far as reserviors are concerned, early units used the metal twist on cap, similar to a oil cap, later units use the plastic round cap.

I got the pump and reservoir as 1 piece. The only difference with my old one was the high pressure fitting which I pulled from the old pump.

Here are some pictures of the pump for all small blocks 68-72. As I stated earlier the pump is available as a seperate unit. Your best option aside from what I suggested earlier is go to the parts store of your choice and look at the units they have in stock until you get the correct unit. Here are some pictures from my 72 4x4 with 350.
