th350 to 700r4 to np205 question
I have a 72 blazer with a th350 np205 combo that im wanting to put a 700r4 in front of the np 205 i know advanced adapters sells an output shaft for the 700 to go to the np205 then i move the engine forward,my question is will the rear output out of the stock th350 or any other stock trans be the right part i need so i dont have to spend the 200 bucks for the shaft. Ther has to be a stock shaft that is the same as the advanced adapters i would think.

From what I've read on these pages the ONLY way to go is the Advanced Adapters output shaft. Others have used some fly-by-night spacer. With the spacer some folks say use this output shaft and cut it shorter. Others say use a dremel tool to lengthen the splines on that output shaft [dremel splines into a hardened shaft that is coming out of about $1000 worth of transmission?!?]. Save your pennies until you can do it right. Purchase the AA shaft. Get a quality rebuild as long as you have to disassemble the 700r4 to put the shaft in. Do the mod right the first time then move on. BTW, the last time I checked the AA shaft was cheaper at Summit than at AA's website.

Re: th350 to 700r4 to np205 question
I haven't had the greatest luck dealing with the AA techs. I am using their shaft in a 4L60 to NP205 with their 6 bolt to 4 bolt spacer which they told me makes my transmission the same length as a 700R4.
Here are the parts I am using. From what I have been told it is just a 700R4 output shaft that has had some of the shaft machined (not the splines) to accept the reluctor ring for a variable speed sensor. Here is a site that shows the measurements of the transmissions to the flange (where the adapter would bolt to) HERE From what I can figure is the output shaft that they modify is from the earlier 700R4s? Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

Re: th350 to 700r4 to np205 question
Okay, don't want to do the dremel tool thing ,just wondering if i have a pile of 350 trans output shafts from a four wheel drive measuring 4",a short shaft two wheel drive measuring 6" and a long shaft measuring 8" would any of those work without dremeling.Wish i could get measurements off the advanced adapters shaft like from the end splines to the gov gear, and the lenghth of the splines to put this to rest. Im pretty sure a 350 output will go right in a 700 r 4 and possible a stock 350 4 wheel output or short shaft two wheel output may be what advance is selling.

I put a post on the Blazer board last week about my 350 to 700 conversion.
