67-72 Chevy & GMC Fender differences

Jim Carter Classic Truck Parts sells a front fender half that is formed as a 1968 Chevy but they indicate it will fit 1967 and 1969-72 models with slight modification on end. I called them to find out what the slight modifiction was and they indicated the side marker light hole. Well, I have a 72 GMC and I prefer the two headlight set up on Chevys plus I think the Chevy grill looks much better. 1968 Chevy and 1968-72 GMC fenders are the same so I am thinking I can use my stock fenders and replace the radiator support, headlight buckets and grill. Am I right about this?

Unfortunately NO!!! I also have a 69 GMC that I am changing to a Chev. 69-72 fenders are different, as is the core support bumper, and the hood emblem. If you bought 69 up front fender half's, you could modify your original fenders to work... I chose to buy vintage tin of the proper type. No welding, or alignment problems. Besides, if you want, you can sell your GMC parts to some one else ! The hood is the same, you would just need to weld the holes shut where the GMC letters are, and redrill for an emblem, if you are going to a 69-70 grill. No drilling necessary for 71-72.

if you want 67-68 chevy front end you need to replace everything but your fenders. if you want 69-72 chevy front end you need to replace everything but your hood.
