i have a '62 chevy c10 lwb and when im in fourth gear going about 25 i hear a loud humming noise coming from the under carriage. would that be something in the tranny or the axle bearings?

Could be the transmission making noise or perhaps the carrier bearing?

Maybe its because your goin way to slow in 4 gear exhaust may be humming real low......?

4th gear at 25 mph, why? Down shift.... every manual tranny vehicle I have ever owned shutters and groans if it is accidently shifted into a gear that is way to high.
