The picture needs to be rotated 90 degrees to the left, I just bumped my head on the desk looking at it

well it happened on the free way, the valve wanted to drop in ...(my theory) the piston hauln @ss on the freeway with th350 4:11's kept it up, and the piston mauled the surfaces to badly (smacking it who knows how many times) eventually it mauled and hit the head, and eventually stayed.

this happened to me in 08, after it quit running and it getting dark we decided to gimp it home, the valve sticking along the way... well us trying to start so many times it flooded the carb, and blew it out when the valve let go.... i didnt know ne of this.

fuel went everywhere while driving, the truck eventually caught on fire. We found water and put it out, but all my work was gone and burnt, everything from the 300 hei, paint on truck and several wires....

I eventually fixed everything, over a year of problems, from loosing brakes, wiring ghosts, i stripped it, and sold it, (no motor no tranny, no bed)

it has sense been made into a 4x4 short bed. hahahaha
ill try n find some pics...
thats my story!!

I would be willing to bet on "coil bind". "HUGE cam" and stock valves generally spells stock springs, which couldn't handle that much lift. When the coils "stack solid" and the rocker arm is still pushing....it does one of the following.
Bends pushrod
Shoves pushrod through rocker arm
Breaks rocker stud
Forces the keepers off of the end of the valve

There may be more, but these are some that I have seen personally.
