Transmission R&R

My TH350 went south. I am changing it. I am sorry for this very basic question but I would rather ask then screw up. I have everything ready to come out and am trying to remove the cross member. I can get it to move reward but cant get it out. Is there a trick or does it not come out?
Thanks,
John.

It will slide back...but you may have to beat on it with a 5 pound hammer.

you need to slide the the drivers side of the crossmember towards the front of the truck and then push the passenger side towards the back and it will fall down. There is kinda a notch in the frame where it drops down, this is where you want to aim for because it will allow the crossmember to slideo down and out of the frame. I hope you understand
