Where did you put your speakers?
I finally got my truck running good again and am getting around to installing my stereo this weekend. I still have the factory gas tank behind the seat. Just eyeballing it, it doesn't look like much room when I held the 6x9s in the rear corners. And the shape of the rear corners along with the small area makes building a box an awkward proposition.
I'd like to keep everything out of sight. Under the seat is an option, but I don't currently have a factory seat. I am looking for one, but may go with something else if a good one comes along. So I'm not sure how much under seat room I'll end up having. I'm thinking maybe I'll build a low box and put it on the floor right in front of the front seat. I should be able to fit my 6x9s and a couple of 6 1/2s too. Eventually I'll get the empty kick panels with speaker holes and get the best 4 1/2s I can find. Maybe a small sub and amp on down the road mounted under the seat. I'd like to see where you put your speakers. Pics please! How much room heighth wise do you have under the front seat?

Re: Where did you put your speakers?
That's a no brainer. I'm doing that. I need more (bigger) sound than what two 4"ers will put out though. I've got a killer Pioneer Premier head unit and some really good 6x9s. I need a good spot for the 6x9s. I don't want to cut the doors and put them there.

Re: Where did you put your speakers?
I just picked up a kicker 12" sub & enclosure for my 07 Toyota double cab. I needed something to go behind the rear seat. The box is very thin, and damn the bass is amazing. It's Kickers new shallow sub. Here's the ebay action I won. I'd recomend this to anyone. In the action it show the box demensions. For the price you can't go wrong.

Re: Where did you put your speakers?
Nice!
I have amp 5 channel amp like that in my daily driver now, it will push those subs good. I'm going with the newer 4 channel and a mono amps for my build pushing 4 6.5" seperates and one 10" infinity sub. It should be plently loud and deep. I'll be making a sub enclosure in for my amps, sub, and a little blue bottle behind the seat. Tri5

Re: Where did you put your speakers?
I got it done about a week or so ago. For now, it's two 6x9s behind the seat with the Pioneer head unit in the dash. My dash was already cut, so it made it easy. I want to patch that and put the head unit in the glove box eventually. I also want to get a set of kickpanels with speaker holes. One of the catalog places sells them for $80 without speakers. I'd rather pick out my own speakers.
But as it is now with just the two 6x9s, it sounds great. The bass response is awesome. The highs are a little muddled, I think from being behind the seat, The 4.5s in the kickpanels should bring those back. I don't think I'll need a sub. A sub and amp is a bunch of money I can use somewhere else. Anyway, here's a couple of pics...
