Finally found an organ donor

I have been keeping an eye out for a running GMC v6 as the one in my one ton is locked up. Finally had this pop up locally. Engine was reshly overhauled less than 12,000 miles ago. It has a seat and a good gas tank, something my 61 is in desperate need of. Only paid 450 for it. All glass is good but sadly wont work for me but I can piece out the few good pieces of steel and recoup some cash. Maybe now this spring I can make my 61 drivable

Re: Finally found an organ donor

not sure, they would look a little better than the plain ones in my 61 but I am trying to keep it as orginal as possible so, have to see what kind of shape they are in.

The hood and grille look pretty decent in the photos. Those two items could be worth the purchase price by themselves. Both are hard to find in good shape.

Re: Finally found an organ donor

Ya thats what I was thinking too. The hood seems to be about the only truly straight metal on it. Figured just for the things I need I couldn't go wrong. He said it runs and drives, it just does not stop. Now I have to haul both trucks somewhere I can swap the engines. I dont trust the cherry picker I have to pick up one of these massive things....

I am interested in the hood, V6 emblems, column, grille and driver side mirror arm.

Re: Finally found an organ donor

Will the radiator and mounts out of this work in my 61 one ton? (Its a 65 3/4 if I havn mentioned that) I don't have one at all and was assuming that was another peice I can use off this ugly truck.

Re: Finally found an organ donor

Please keep the unsolicited offers to buy GMC406's spare parts out of this thread, or it will unfortunately have to be closed due to sales rules. Thanks.

Re: Finally found an organ donor

I finally made the initiative to become a site suporter! Now the unsolicited offers can't get my post shut down right? And as for people interested, patience.... I havn't even hauled this thing home yet but in a few weeks there will be an add in the parts section see you then. Another question I have is is the trans and clutch going to be the same? I know the 65 has a manual clutch linkage and my 61 is hydralic but that would just require diferent bell housings? Is the trans and clutch going to be useable for me? Reason I ask is I am assuming the clutch was replaced when the eng was overhauled, so I would rather use this one than the one in unkown condition in the 61.
