I'm 17, and I have my eye on a solid 1967 chevy c20. I'm trying to get a better idea of what I'm getting into if I buy her, and thats why I'm here. That, and most of the work trucks in this area are bowties anyway, so I'll probably end up with one. I'm currently driving a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo, but hopefully the 67 will replace that soon. The c20 is nearly rust free, has a 327, and a Turbo 350. I've been told all she will need is brake lines, and fuel lines and a fuel pump. I want this truck to serve as a semidaily driver, and as a truck. What am i getting into here? What are the cost of parts like? Do you think $1700 is worth it for a solid custom 20 with wood fleetside bed, very little rust, bad brake/fuel lines, and that powertrain? I'm hoping to the the guy down to $1500. If not, I'lll probably be posting in the 88 and up forum soon anyway.

I just got an update on that truck. The guy is down to asking $1500, and it does not need fuel lines. Just brake lines and a fuel pump.

How difficult is replacing the main lines on these 67-72 trucks? How well do those EZ brake line kits with the flex line work? It looks like solid steel, but i guess its malleable.

Truth be told, my dream truck would be a 94-02 dodge cummins. Lol. But i don't have $8000. I don't have any real brand loyalty, so with my limited budget, i'm open to buying just about anything. But these 67-72 chevys are just sooooo cool looking! If i don't get this particular truck, i'll still likely get a chevy, becuase there are so many of them. It seems like those 88-98 trucks grow on trees around here. Thanks so much for the warm welcome guys.

I changed the brake lines on my truck. used LMC,was not hard at all! even the flex lines are not that tough. use a product called PB blaster on all the fittings and it will be a breeze and your truck will be great good luck& welcome to the board great site with great people! make it fun !! P.S. I used 3/8 hard line in steel for my fuel system( get it at any parts store) hope this helps ...Pat

Just so you guys know, I'm still here. I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. I just haven't bought anything. I'm currently waiting on calls from owners of a 69 c10 longbed 350/400, and a 79 c30 350/400. Also, there is a 85 c10 6.2 diesel in town, tempting me with it's high gas mileage. This does not count all the mopars and fords i've been considering too.

I'm probably annoying the crap out of the local truck owners, because i have looked at about 300, and bought 0. Lol. I'm currently leaning towards the 69 c10. It might not be inspected, but everything works as it should, and it comes with all the body panels I will ever need. So thank you guys for the warm welcome!

First you need to clerify your goals for the truck like usage, WORK,Play,project DD.
Second:Look at it very deeply like underneith,if recently painted or motor "rebuilt" question that I've been burned before on something that looked good turned out two yrs later to need $1000 in metal for the cab,fenders,grill support and the list goes on...
Third: and most importantly get what you want not the first deal that you come across.
Four: welcome to the best site for info and diverse knowledge and take plenty of pics.

As far as the 6.2 deisel they are expensive to work on so I would stray away from them.

My goals are work, and daily driver, all the while being a very slow paced project. I am not planning on a %100 percent resto, but on slowly turning back the clock, until the truck looks like its only seen a decade or so of use.

Thankfully, everything I'm looking at has the original paint, and either the original motor, or a GM Goodwrench crate.

And trust me, I've had plenty of chances to buy over the past few months, but still haven't bought. I know pretty much what I'm looking for, and I will find it. If I don't, I'm just going to buy a newer work truck and run the doors off.

The truck you've described sounds like it would make an excellent starting point. As previously mentioned, the brake line work really isn't hard. I favor the pre-formed hard lines (like those mentioned from LMC) and I do not the flex lines. It's just not what was intended to be used in our trucks and I find the average user is the individual who doesn't want to take the time to do it right.

Put some time and TLC in your old Chevy...she won't let you down!
