'72 door panels
This pair has no extra screw holes, chips or deep scratches. They are original dark olive, poorly painted black. Chrome rings look good. Aluminum inserts have no dents, they have stick on woodgrain shelf paper which look good with your eyes closed. These are good pcs to restore. $75 shipped for the pair

Re: '72 door panels
Tim, my first description said they looked good to Stevie Wonder, but I edited that.

Re: '72 door panels
I wonder if the black paint will come off with something like lacquer thinner without ruining the plastic... Are there any cracks or defects in the plastic panels themselves?

Re: '72 door panels
WIDESIDE72, I guess it depends on what type of paint was used as far as removing it, dosen't look like any primer was used, and a lot of the paint has already worn off. No cracks or damage to either panel, and they are straight.

Re: '72 door panels
If they are solid with good grain, green is one of the better colors for not chalking out. They can be bead blasted and dyed your color easily.

Re: '72 door panels
For the record, I had to strip some old dye off a pair of 87' door panels for my father's K30 and it came off with some elbow grease and lacquer thinner. It does not damage the plastic. If wanting them green again, just use laquer thinner on them with a rag and then afterwards use a light duty scrub brush and thinner. Then polish up with interior shine. Trevor
