Re: windshields
tried putting mine back in after painting inside and out, ended up cracking the glass and chipping my new paint, called a auto glass company and for 150.00 with me suppling the rubber they installed and guaranteed it. hope this helps I learned the hard way

They come to you. Only thing, if it's your new windshield, they won't guarantee it won't break going in. But, you can't beat a man at his own profession. If he can't get it in without breaking it, you wouldn't have either.

Re: windshields
That's what I was wondering too Capt. I thought 150 was high. Just to drive out to my house and work for less than an hour and I supply everything. But, like I said, I think it's 150 well spent.

Re: windshields
I paid $75 and I supplied the new glass and the rubber. I watched (and helped) the "professional" for the four hours it took him. I wound up tipping him another $50 because I felt sorry for how hard it was! Thank God I did not try it myself! I did do the side glass, vent windows and rear glass myself.

Re: windshields
I have done it twice now.. Not that big of a deal. Take your time. Rope it in and it helps if there are two of you. But if you want to be safe let soneone to it for you

Re: windshields
That was a new windshield and rubber and replace the rubber on the rear window
setandreel's post made me think he only supplied the rubber.

Re: windshields
Well then I'd say that's a fair price for all of that. The windshield alone has to be around $175.00

Re: windshields
I just bought a brand new windshield the other day Wednesday 12/29/09 to be exact for $128.63.I did have to pickup myself from their local warehouse granted it is windshield only, still waiting on rubber gasket to arrive from Classic Parts which was $30.00 from them.Hence the original post has anyone installed or know of a link to installing these windshields. But I guess you all are right I probably should call on my old friend the windshield guy which I do happen to have. But thanks any way to all of you guys.Oh by the way if anybody is interested here is the link to where I bought my windshield of course these windshields being so old are subject to availability but it is worth a try,it was for me.

Re: windshields
Haven't done a truck but I did a couple combine cabs years ago. A couple "tricks to make it easier are to warm the rubber under a heat lamp for a few hours to get it nice and pliable and to use a paint friendly lubricant on the edges of the glass and the channels in the rubber. That makes it go in a lot easier, GoJo works but has been known to stain fresh paint and will definitely stain oxidized paint.
