Question 1970 Blazer: 3 speed to 4 speed swap

I'm planning to swap my 3 speed (on tree) for a 4 speed (floor shift) on my 1970 K5 Blazer. Has anyone done this swap before? What parts do I need to locate? I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

Ok your blazer now has a dana30 transfer case in it...got to go..you will need a granny 4speed for 4x4 with case...and both driveshafts are different too. The frame to case bracket is different too. I have done this before...It is about a bolt on to the bellhousing you allready have.

Re: 1970 Blazer: 3 speed to 4 speed swap

Thanks for replying. Just to confirm my understanding. I'll need a 4 speed trany, new transfer case (NP205?), crossmember, and drive shift. Is that correct?

Yes you will need trans...case that match with the adapter..that can be a little hard to find..but you can even get them out of a 73-80 truck..as long as it is complete.. both shafts are different length..The bracket to frame on the case is what you need too..

I am running a 69 K/20 3/4 axles and 4 speed with rockwell case in my 70 blazer 4x4..Had to mod even going from pickup to K5

Thanks. One last question. Is it possible to convert my 3 speed trans to a floor shifter?
