78 body onto truck arm 67 C-10 frame

I know plenty of people have put the older bodies onto the 73-87 truck chassis but has anybody gone the other direction and put the newer body onto the older chassis?

I tried searching a few times and kept getting a fatal error so no luck there.

I am going to swap my 67 body onto the complete 78 K20 chassis including drivetrain to make the 67 a K20 short bed that I always wanted.

I will have all the parts left over to make the 78 a C-10 with the 67 truck arm suspension. Has anybody tried this?

Re: 78 body onto truck arm 67 C-10 frame

I always wanted a 67 short bed 4x4 off-road toy and own a 67 C-10 LWB basket case truck that has no drivetrain. I also own a 78 K20 with a great drivetrain and suspension.

The 78 needs every body panel replaced except the passenger side door so I have no problem cannibalizing it for parts to build the 67 4x4 I always wanted.

The 78 is just ugly but could make a good parts hauler / work truck so if I could use all the left over parts from the 67 to get it back on the road all the better.

No point in a parts hauler getting 7 mpg like the K20 gets now or having it ride like a tractor either due to suspension designed for a camper special when it will never have a camper on it.

You will have to make body mounts and a lot of odds and ends.

it would be easier to fit the straight axle to the 67 frame than it would be to fit the 67 to the 73+ frame.
