different widths?
Hey guys,
I am in the middle of doing a 1970 C20 swap with 73-87 running gear making it a 5 lug C10. I have the front control arms, spindles, ball joints, tie rods and adjuster sleeves changed and the front end seems to be good to go. On the rear I know I need to get top plates for the leafs off of the half ton, but other than that are the perches and shock mounts in the same spot? Will the 1/2 ton axle bolt onto my 3/4 ton leafs as is?? Also, how much wider is the stance on the 73-87? I am curious for wheel backspace purposes. My plan is to use the 5 lug 73-87 gear on my C20 with a 15x10 on all four corners and a 3/5 or 3/6 drop. If anyone can chime in and let me know if this is possible and answer any questions on the rear axle it would be awesome. Thanks for looking guys! and I promise to put up progress pics once I start making some progress lol. -JR |

Re: different widths?
I think the spring centers on the 73 up rears are about 2" wider. Also the shock mounts are different I believe the 73 up have 1 shock forward and 1 shock backward. Not sure on the hub measurement to tell you what the offset would be.
